I. General
KGN-40.5 type switch cabinet applies to 35 kV, three-phase AC 50 Hz, single bus system. It is used for receiving and distributing electric energy in power plants, substations, and industrial and mining enterprises. It has the characteristics of low price, safety, reliability, and simple operation. It also has the functions of controlling, protecting, and monitoring the circuit.

KGN-40.5 type fixed AC metal-enclosed switchgear is a fixed assembled structure, whose basic framework is welded by section steel and bent steel plates.
The switchgear is mainly assembled by the front and rear cabinets, and the corresponding functional units are set up according to different purposes. The electrified bodies in the cabinet are mainly air-insulated, and the insulation distance between the electrified bodies and between the phase-to-earth is not less than 300 mm.
Front cabinet: Set up the main busbar and a busbar disconnector room, a breaker room, a relay room, etc. The main busbar and busbar disconnector room are located above the cabinet, and the breaker room is below the cabinet. A current transformer can be installed.
The relay room is placed in the middle of the cabinet front, and the secondary cable channel is arranged in the lower right small door. The lower left small door provides access for maintenance, with the operation panel above it.
Rear cabinet: It shall be connected with the front cabinet by bolts. It may be set up with a disconnector and an earthing switch as required. The overhead/cable incoming and outgoing lines are also passed through this cabinet. A voltage transformer or lightning arrester can also be installed in this cabinet, and functional units such as busbar PT cabinets and busbar tie cabinets can be formed by installing an inter-bus in this cabinet. The rear door is fixed with bolts, and it can be opened if the live monitor indicates that there is no electricity.
III. Key Features
1. The cabinet structure is assembled, featuring high mechanical strength and a beautiful appearance;
2. The busbar room is located in the upper front of the cabinet body, and the adjacent busbar rooms are separated by metal separators, which can effectively prevent the fault affecting the adjacent rooms;
3. Air insulation is adopted in the cabinet, and the air insulation distance of interphase and phase-to-earth is greater than 300 mm. Supporting insulators (or bushings) with a large creepage distance are adopted in the cabinet so that the switch cabinet has a high insulation level and insulation stability;
4. It adopts a GN27-40.5 disconnector with a reliable mechanical interlocking device operated according to procedures, providing reliable safety protection for operators and equipment;
5. The main switch, disconnector, earthing switch, and cabinet door are all locked mechanically, and the product complies with the functional requirements of “five-preventions”;
6. The cable terminal has a large space from the earth, making it convenient for the production, installation, inspection, and maintenance of the cables. The cable room and the cable trench are sealed with a tower-type rubber ring to prevent moisture and small animals from entering the cabinet through the trench;
7. The protection degree of the enclosure is IP40;

Average monthly relative humidity ≤90%, average monthly water vapor pressure ≤1.8 kPa.
5.4) Earthquake intensity ≤ level 8.
5.5) The ambient air is not visibly contaminated by corrosive gases, flammable gases, water vapor, or salt spray.
5.6) No serious pollution and frequent severe vibration.
